Re: CPB/NPR funding debate

Ok, before I give my 2 cents on the issue, I think it fair to give a little info about myself so you know where my opinions come from. First, I have worked in public radio management for the past 5 years, or about a quarter of the entire time I've been in radio. I've been a listener of public radio ...

CPB/NPR funding debate

So this has been tossed around at the end of the recent articles, but as someone pointed out, it deserves rational discussion. The two things floating around on Capitol Hill are: 1. US Taxpayers should not be funding public broadcasting and/or 2. Taxpayer money used for CPB cannot be used to purchas...

Re: Recording Academy Pres./CEO Takes A Swipe At Radio

Indeed. As I stated in my reply to the article, the worst thing about this is that it is being sold as a sham to help underpaid artists. musicFirst released the ad about a musician who performed a staple of classic rock radio who now lives off his wife's pension because "radio is robbing him of roya...

Re: HD Radio = HUGE DISASTER!!!

I wonder how many of you actually have HD tuners and really listen to HD channels in your market? I've had one for 2 years now and will say that I can notice the difference between analog and HD on most stations, but it's more what stations do with the HD that will draw the customers. 1. HD uses a c...

Another HD in Vegas

Looks like UNLV's station (91.5) has gone HD and even has an HD-2. Hopefully they do something good with it. I still can't believe what CBS is playing on KXNT's (previously Jack's) HD-2. It sounds like they have an AM tuner plugged into their exporter tuned to KYDZ. I wish they would move their Jack...
