Really?? This track is a classic! Of course it should be on a classic rock station!! Its a classic rock hit!

Re: Classic Rock does not equal Charlie Daniels
Well if this was 1976 and it was a station like KSFM 102 Earth Radio,it would belong.I really would like to see more Classic Rock stations add some older upbeat country,If they are going to play bands like Marshall Tucker and such, then why not.

If listeners say it's Classic Rock and/or want to hear it...it's Classic Rock.

In Minneapolis? Absolutely. The market went through a big "southern rock" stage in the 70's.
Re: Classic Rock does not equal Charlie Daniels
Did the local Rock station play it new? Did it have legs for a few years? Is it an iconic song that fits your listener? It's ON your station.
Re: Classic Rock does not equal Charlie Daniels
It depends on where you are...rather than should it be aired. If you're in an area of the country where Southern Rock remains popular...play it. If you're in Seattle or NYC...maybe not. However, if you do play it, play the album version, not the single. Rock stations should never play single edits. Leave that to the Classic Hits operations.

Charlie Daniels cut his teeth on KSHE 95 in St. Louis. He credits them for his early success. They still play Charlie. "Devil" crossed over to Top40 Pop in 1979. It can stay.
Re: Classic Rock does not equal Charlie Daniels
Charlie Daniels is an album rock staple from the 70's, plus 4 Top Ten hits on the Billboard singles charts at the time. Remember "Uneasy Rider", "Long Haired Country Boy" and "The Legend Of Wooley Swamp"?
